Ayampe Seasons
Most people come to Ecuador with the impression that it’s always hot and sunny. However, in order to avoid surprises, it’s important to understand there are two clearly defined different seasons. For simplicity, let’s call them High and Low, although there’s tourism all year round.
High Season – Dec 1st to May 15th
If you are looking for some buzz and want to get a golden tan, this is the right time for you. Ayampe’s weather is hot and sunny almost every day, but you might get random tropical rains. They last for about an hour and then dry quickly. All businesses are open to the public and the town gets fairly busy. Surfing during this time of the year is cleaner. The Ecuador coast loves North swells from Hawaii and off-shore winds. Waves can get a little more crowded though. But it’s still Ayampe, you know.

Low Season – May 16th to Nov 30th
This time of the year is great for those looking for tranquility and a quiet vacation. Don’t worry, there are plenty of things to do. Ayampe’s weather is mostly cloudy, with the occasional sunny day. It’s usually warm, but bring a jacket as it can get fresher during the evenings. Some businesses close and take a time-off. Surfing is consistent although conditions are mixed. Occasional on-shore winds lead to fewer glassy days. Water is still warm but we suggest you bring a thin top. Crowds are rare.
